Akron men’s professional basketball team, the Akron Aviators are teaming up with the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank and Anthem to collect donations at their next home game this Saturday, November 15th. The Aviators are looking to collect canned foods and other non-perishable food items to benefit the food bank. The Aviators will be hosting Knoxville Commerce from Tennessee this Saturday at Innes Community Learning Center in Akron, OH. The doors open at 5:30 PM for a 6 PM tip-off.
The Akron Aviators are playing their eighth year in the iconic American Basketball Association (ABA) which is celebrating its 25th anniversary since relaunching as a minor league. Sixteen former Akron Aviators have been signed to overseas contracts; most recently Nuradin Aden signed to BC Olympavan in Armenia.
“We’re really excited to be working with Anthem to raise goods for the Food Bank this year,” says Brian “Essince” Collins, owner and co-founder of the Akron Aviators. “It’s so important to give back to our community, especially around this time of year. Last time we raised over 100 lbs of food and I want to donate even more this year! It’s easy to forget how fortunate we are and also how easy it is to help someone in need.”
