Once again, we’re teaming up with the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank (AkronCantonFoodBank.org) and Anthem (AnthemOhio.com) to collect donations at our next home game this Saturday, November 23rd. We are looking to collect canned foods and other non-perishable food items to benefit the food bank. We will will be hosting the Buffalo eXtreme from New York this Saturday at Innes Community Learning Center in Akron, OH. The doors open at 6:30 PM for a 7 PM tip-off.
The Akron Aviators are playing our seventh year in the iconic American Basketball Association (ABA) which now operates across the United States, Australia, Japan, and Mexico. Fifteen former Akron Aviators have been signed to overseas contracts in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Canada, while others have had NBA workouts and upper US league contracts.
“We’re really excited to be working with Anthem to raise goods for the Food Bank this year,” says Brian “Essince” Collins, owner and co-founder of the Akron Aviators. “It’s so important to give back to our community, especially around this time of year. Last time we raised over 100 lbs of food and I want to donate even more this year! It’s easy to forget how fortunate we are and also how easy it is to help someone in need.”
Anthem is trusted as the top health insurance plan by commercial and Medicare members in Ohio. They have once again partnered with the Akron Aviators to become their title sponsor. The Aviators boast exciting and affordable basketball and entertainment for the whole family. Tickets start at just $5 for all students and $10 for adults. All fans who bring a non-perishable food item will be entered into a drawing to win a Merch Bundle (valued at $75) and a Free 3-Day Family Vacation.
